This was article was on Wookiepedia's weekly featured article. I never knew about this interesting story that happened a year before the battle of Yavin.
The conspirators, which was led by Grand Moff Trachta, who had planed this around 11 BBY. He wanted a secular rule of the Empire instead of Sith ruled. He had a special brand of storm troopers made that would only obey him and planned to split the Emperor and Vader up when they attacked them. Not everything went as planed and failed. The Emperor executed almost all of the conspirators (which even included another Grand Moff).
