The Formation of the Galactic Republic

Twenty-five thousand years before the battle of Yavin, the hyperdrive was invented and established contact between the thousands of previously isolated intelligent alien species, which in turn led to the creation of the Galactic Republic. Trade routes were established to create a strong economy for the Republic. Five main trade routes were established. They are the Hydian way, Corellian way, Rimma trade route, Perlemian trade route, and the Corellian trade route. Through these trade routes, systems from all over the galaxy could elect senators to meet at the capital, Coruscant, and discuss galactic conflicts, laws, and disputes.

Yes, the trade routes did help the senate get organized. These trade routes are what created a need for the senate.

It is worth mentioning that the Senate exsisted (albeit in a much smaller form) before the various trade routes were stablished
